At 10:45 p.m., Belleville police notified Nutley police of two people wearing ski masks who were trying to enter homes in the township, Nutley Police Director Alphonse Petracco and Nutley Police Chief Thomas Strumolo said.
Nutley police searched the area and found the two teenagers trying to enter vehicles on Ohlson Avenue and Ridge Road, police said. The two teenagers were charged with attempted burglary, conspiracy and hindering, after they gave false names, police said.
They were released to their parents pending a juvenile hearing, police said.
